March Full Moon Kit
With the lunar eclipse, we get an even bigger boost in shedding the stuff we no longer need. Here's a ritual and some writing prompts to honour the worm moon.
Are you feeling a sort of restless stirring? It could be the onset of the seasonal change, but it could also be thanks to some exciting celestial activity. Our moon this month is made even more special with the added bonus of a lunar eclipse, which means we have a generous boost when it comes to letting go of anything that isn't helping us realize our highest selves.
The March full moon is known in the Northern Hemisphere as the worm moon because with the Spring Equinox fast approaching, there's a stirring in the earth that will lead to the return of life. Big things are happening, even if we can't see them yet. There's no better time than now to shed anything that might stand in the way of your beautiful renewal and transformation, so what's it going to be?
This full moon in Virgo invites us to take a look at our impulse to control the narrative. We have an opportunity to step back, let go, and give it over so things may unfold in their own time. Virgo is so beautifully detail-oriented, but this can mean striving for perfectionism in ways that might not be healthy. It doesn't need to be perfect, it only needs to be authentic.

A Little Ritual for the Worm Moon
Create sacred space in whatever way feels right for you, in this moment. If you have the time, arrange an altar and include a representation of each of the elements. If time is short, simply light some candles, or burn some incense/smudge/sain. Be sure to have a piece of paper, a writing implement, and a safe vessel and space for burning. Music is a lovely addition if this feels good.
Ground yourself with a few slow, deep breaths. Close your eyes and visualize the earth warming from deep within, soaking up rain and melted snow, all the strange and wonderful creatures within waking up and starting to move, making the soil fertile again. Imagine the smell of that fresh earth, or a warm rainfall.
Open your eyes, take up your writing tool. Invite your inner critic to have some space to point out the many things it wants you to see and believe. You don't have to believe them, of course, but you are going to allow them a moment to be heard. Keep breathing through this part.
When the page is full. Stop. Breath again. Read the words. Thank your critic for sharing what they needed to say. Imagine them taking a seat and feeling relaxed. Then, invite your self-compassion forward and imagine them with a hand on your shoulder. Are there words from the critic that are useful? Could any of these points be approached with love and compassion to create positive change in your life? Consider these carefully, as though you were in conversation with a dear friend.
Now, fold up the paper. Thank your compassionate self. Ignite the words, releasing the ones that feel painful and overly harsh. The ones that make you feel less than. If you have a space in your garden or in a nearby green space, bury the ash from this burn. If not, scatter it outdoors. As you do so, imagine you are letting go of the power these words have over you. Imagine that power feeding the earth so it can grow stronger for the growing season ahead.
Return to your sacred space. Invite some play in any way you choose. You can write a prayer or a poem, draw, consult your favourite oracle cards or divination methods, dance, stretch, cook something or prepare a lovely snack. Take the energy of transformation and pour it into a creative container.
When you are ready, release your space with gratitude.
Give yourself a hug.
